Buckingham Palace

Buckingham Palace which is the official London residence of the Queen also doubles as the administrative headquarters of the British monarchy.

Apart from being a major tourist attraction, the Palace hosts state occasions and royal entertaining.

Buckingham Palace was originally known as Buckingham House, the building which today forms the heart of the present palace was originally a large townhouse which was built in 1703 for the Duke of Buckingham. It was subsequently acquired in 1762 by King George III for use as a private residence.

There is a garden at the back of the Palace which is the biggest private garden in London. It is here that the Queen hosts her annual garden parties each summer. The Changing of the Guard which takes place daily at 11 o’clock at Buckingham Palace is a big draw with the tourists.

If you are planning on visiting Buckingham Palace, why not make a full event of it and stay a night at Clayton Crown Hotel London which is located approx 20 minutes via public transport from Buckingham Palace, making this hotel your ideal choice of accommodation.
